Such a great initiative for our students to earn their PBS points. Thanks for baking the yummy treats which they can also choose as prizes 😁

Last weekend, the Bush Ranger Cadets had their final camp to Albany. We swam at the beach, canoed on the King River, visited the Historic Whaling Station, Gap, Natural Bridge, and Blow Holes, and camped at Gilcreek Scout Camp. Thanks to all the students and staff who have made Bush Rangers a fun experience this year. We hope you have enjoyed learning new skills and exploring the outdoors. We look forward to welcoming new members and doing more great things next year. Miss Watson

A lot of everlasting memories made - well done everyone

Yesterday we had our last Book Club meeting of the term. We celebrated our study of the Hunger Games with a special feast displaying different delights from each district (and even the Capitol!). We also handed out prizes to our top readers of the term, Zavier and Amelia, who engaged fantastically with our reading challenges and dedicated themselves especially well to reading the novel. Well done to all our Book Club members for your commitment to reading and thank you to our amazing librarian Mrs Allen for hosting our gathering every week. Book Club will re-commence in Term 1 of 2026 and we will be reading Rick Riordan’s fantasy novel “Percy Jackson.” Happy reading, and we can’t wait to hear all about what you read over the break!

🎄Gingerbread Masterpieces 🎅
Over the past three lessons, our Year 9 Food & Fibre students have been busy planning, baking, assembling, and decorating their own Gingerbread Houses. This hands-on project allowed them to develop practical kitchen skills—such as precise measuring, dough handling, construction techniques, and creative decorating. Students worked with impressive patience and problem-solving as they built sturdy structures, experimented with icing ‘cement,’ and added detailed festive decorations. The results were colourful, imaginative, and delicious masterpieces, they were truly proud of.

Incredible Day of Culture & Creation!
What a successful day for our Follow the Dream students!
We were so honored to host Ash and Kelly from Kabartndesign for an amazing cultural workshop right here at the school. Our students got seriously hands-on:
• Painting the Seasons: They beautifully painted the SES poles for our new Indigenous bush tucker garden/yarning area, depicting the incredible six Noongar seasons.
• Boomerang Fun: We also had a blast learning how to throw boomerangs! Huge thanks to the students from Clontarf and Mr. Potts class for joining in the fun.
• Artistic Masterpieces: Every student completed their own stunning sunset painting of ULURU.
A big thank you to Emu Lane for providing a delicious lunch to fuel our creativity!
This amazing day was made possible thanks to the full funding provided by the Poly Farmer Foundation Opportunities and Experiences Fund.
We cant wait to welcome Ash and Kelly back next year!

Fabulous opportunity for our students!

As the year wraps up, the process for selecting a new Student Leadership Group team for 2026 has been underway. Our Year 7-9 students got a taste of democracy this week as they entered the polling station (aka the good old KSHS library) to make their voice heard. Students lined up outside to read candidate statements to ensure they were fully informed voters, with our queue of eager citizens expertly crowd-controlled by Mr Burnett. Upon entering the polling station, they gave their name and answered the questions of the election officials Ms Duerr and Ms Palmer. We were sure to check voter eligibility! Upon receiving their ballot, students were guided to the ballot booths by Ms Tonga who clarified voting processes. Mrs Allen was also present to ensure ballots were submitted correctly into our ballot box.
It was awesome to see students taking our electoral process seriously and practicing the steps of voting. We can see that they will be pros by the time they turn 18 and go to vote in a “real-life” election! Perhaps next year we can even add a “democracy sausage”…
Voters who did not make it to the polling station on election day were tracked down by our electoral team. Here, they were offered a postal ballot and given “fines” for not voting. This was another awesome opportunity for a discussion about civic engagement.
Congratulations to all the successful candidates for student leaders who will be officially announced at our final end of year assembly. We all also congratulate all the students who ran even if they were not elected. You have all done a fantastic job of demonstrating our PBS values of Achievement and Perseverance.

Definitely need the democracy sausage next year! Great to see the real processes being emulated.

This semester in STEM, Year 8 students had three choices of activities; designing, building, and racing carbon dioxide Dragsters; competing in First Lego League: Unearthed; or investigating problems that would need to be overcome for humans to live on Mars. Each project involved students defining the problem and constraints, brainstorming ideas, prototyping solutions, testing their ideas and refining their designs. Last week the students shared their journey with their peers and teachers, which was very interesting. Congratulations to all the students for developing their STEM skills.
