Design & Technology

Design and Technology is compulsory in Years 7 and 8 with projects in Metalwork and Woodwork. Beyond Year 8, if Design and Technology is selected, students have the option of choosing from Metalwork and Woodwork courses.

In the Senior Years, a Woodwork option is available along with Certificate 1 in Engineering. Katanning Senior High School partners with VETIS Consulting Services as the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to deliver this course. The current Certificate 1 in Engineering course has the three main disciplines of sheet metal work, welding and machining with welding including manual metal arc welding, MIG and oxy acetylene processes. The machining elements focus on lathe and milling machine skills.

The Trade Skills Centre facilitaties the delivery of Certificates in Engineering, Automotive and Horticultural.
