Guest Speaker – Get Up ‘n’ Go Day

March 27, 2015

At Katanning Senior High School we make the health and well being of our students one of our school priorities.  Adolescence is a challenging time for young people often filled with uncertainty, self doubt and complex social interactions as they navigate social media, community and parental expectations.  This year we held our third Get Up ‘N’ Go Day where students listen to a guest speaker, participate in workshops and a range of sporting activities all focused on mental health and having a go.

Our guest speaker, Adam Przytula from Armed for Life, explored the need for young people to feel positive about themselves and develop the resilience to bounce back when challenging things happen in their lives.  Adam was a school teacher but has spent the last 16 years running workshops for young people.  He has always had a passion for helping teenagers deal with bullying, emotional regulation family conflict, depression and suicidal thoughts.  He used his good sense of humour and honesty about his own experiences to engage with our students.
